WINNER! WINNER! CHICKEN DINNER!

Congratulations to Lou Brutus for repeating as Best Nationally Syndicated Radio Host at the Radio Contraband Rock Radio Awards in Las Vegas NV on Saturday January 30th 2015.

Lou was again Master of Cermonies for the ceremony, held at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. He opened the show by performing a blues number, backed on guitar by Dameon Aranda of Aranda, entitled “The Radio Contraband Las Vegas Blues,” a somewhat filthy look at the current state of the radio and recording industries.

Brutus thanked his listeners, radio brethren and Darla the Wonder Dog for the support in besting the other nominees which included Nikki Sixx, Full Metal Jackie, The Chop Shop and Skratch N’ Sniff.

GUARDIANS OF THE HOLIDAY

The Lou Brutus holiday card for 2014 has been unveiled.

Once again, the artwork has been created by Lou’s longtime partner in artistic crime Alan MacBain of The Alan MacBain Cartoon Company.

This year the theme is Guardians of the Holiday with Lou and his beloved Darla the Wonder Dog joined by a bevy of rock star friends in a scene from the Guardians of the Galaxy film poster.

Brutus takes the Star Lord postion while Lzzy Hale of Halestorm is Gamora, Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch is Drax the Destroyer and Jim Root of Slipknot stands in as Groot. A snarling Darla fires a laser a la Rocket Raccoon.

The cards are only sent out to friends and family of Lou’s. However, a very small amount of them will be made available to fans through LB’s social networks. Keep your eyes on the official Lou Brutus Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Good Luck!

GRUMPY OLD PUNKS: SHAKE IT OFF

January 13th 2015 is now the official release date for the new EP from Grumpy Old Punks, entitled “Driving Around with the Blinker On.” The comedy-punk band is led by Lou Brutus and performs hyper short punk rock tunes of middle aged despair.

To hold fans over until the release, the band had a couple of surprises for the holiday season. The first was a lyric video for a previously unannounced cover by the band of Taylor Swift‘s “Shake It Up.” You can see the vid for it below. FYI It will not be available for release.

The second is a lyric video for the group’s new holiday tune “You Get Nothing (For Christmas).” You can get this and other releases by the band now on iTunes.

DEAD SCHEMBECHLERS RETURN

Is that guy singing Lou Brutus or not? The question was posed again by football fans and sports media from coast to coast as legedary Ohio State Buckeyes-loving, University of Michigan-hating punk quartet, Dead Schembechlers, returned to the concert stage after a four year absence.

The concert, at hallowed punk rock venue Ace of Cups on High Street in Columbus OH, was sold out nearly a week ahead of time. The band tore thru a ninety minute set, mixing classics like “Bomb Ann Arbor Now” with new material such as “Brady Hoke is A Big Fat Fuck.”

Check out the band on NBC here. An interview by Nuber on Columbus rock station The Blitz with singer Bo Biafra is here. An article in the Detroit Free Press on Lou, errr, we mean Bo’s bounty for Bucks players to feed Michigan coach Brady Hoke donuts onfield is here.

Thanks to Rob Fortenberry Photography for the images. Hit the band’s site, Facebook and Twitter.

PREPARE FOR HELL

Even acting as host at Knotfest wasn’t enough for LB of his favorite band, so he’s mades the rounds at various stops around the country on the Prepare for Hell Tour featuring Slipknot, KoRn and King 810.

Lou has posted dozens of shots from backstage and onstage via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. He also had a portrait shot done with the band in Baltimore MD by Rob Fortenberry Photography. You can see a few small examples below. However, we urge you to follow Brutus on his socials for lots more!
