CHEAP TRICK “IN ANOTHER WORLD”

Congratulations to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Cheap Trick on the release their 20th studio album In Another World. It is the band’s first Number One album having topped the Billboard charts for Classic Rock Radio including Top Rock Albums and Independent Record Label Current Albums.

The record also includes photography by Lou Brutus with three live shots of the band from him on the jacket. For the fans who have asked, the gigs he shot these particular images at include Washington DC 2019, Silver Spring MD 2015, and Fairfax VA 2014.

Some of Lou’s other Cheap Trick photography is also showing up in other places. The band’s Rick Nielsen recently gave an interview to Illinois Entertainer magazine. A full band shot by LB is featured on the cover of the mag with another of his stage shots used in the article. You can read the (excellent) interview and see Lou’s pics here.

Many thanks to his old friends in the band with extra thanks for the liner note credit!

THE DARLALORIAN

We’re excited to announce a new project featuring Darla the Wonder Dog and LB. It’s a free, downloadable coloring book entitled “The Darlalorian.”

To get yours, just hit the links below. Click on each to download or print directly. There will be a new chapter each week with both an illustration page and a narrative page. They’ll available each week thereafter until the end of the story.

As you may have guessed, it’s a parody of the Disney+ hit “The Mandalorian” with artwork by Alan MacBain and script by LB. It tells the story of a mysterious creature known as The Puppy Child (Darla) and the intergalactic Rocker (Lou) who becomes her protector. Their misadventures unfold in a “season” of eight chapters with each “chapter” represented by a single coloring-book page. Watch for various actors and Rock stars in cameos.

Plus, you can win cool prizes by coloring the pages! Color and post the new page each week on your social media using the hashtag #TheDarlalorian. They’ll be judged in two divisions including Hand Colored and Computer Colored. Winners each week will receive a poster of the cover signed by LB and Darla, as well as other goodies.

Of course, this is not the first time that Lou, Darla, and Alan have teamed up for a coloring book. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film “Yellow Submarine” from The Beatles, they published another coloring book parody entitled “Yorkie Submarine.” Read about it and download it here.

HOLIDAY CARD 2020

With the arrival of the holiday season, it’s time to unveil the artwork for this year’s Christmas card from Lou and Darla the Wonder Dog.

As 2020 has been pretty nasty, Lou thought it would be nice to use a card theme that drew off of some beloved childhood art. So he called up artist Alan MacBain and they dreamed up an image.

This year’s card is based on an original illustration by E.H. Shepard for A.A. Milne’s short story “Winnie the Pooh and the North Pole Expedition.” In our version, Darla and Lou are joined by Venus the Meowing Pussycat, Rosie the Pup, Moses the Gregarious Barn Cat, and Little Stevie the Pony. The inside of the card reworks text from the Pooh story.

To get a card, you must first send a card! Write to Brutus and Darla – PO Box 361 – Arnold MD 21012.

PLEASE NOTE: Because of backups at the USPS, Lou had not yet received his cards from the printer as of Saturday December 19th. Please be patient if you’ve written in. Thanks.
